Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Failure to Appear for medical reasons

Hi - My brohter initiated a reduction in child support court appearance but was admitted into a mental hospital the day before the court date. He now has a warrant for his arrest. He has since been released from the hospital, is now on 9 different medications and started therapy 2x a week. Will they likely put in him jail??

No. His explanation should suffice to have the warrant dismissed.

Re: Failure to Appear for medical reasons

Why would a warrant for your brother's arrest be issued for his failure to appear at a child support hearing which he had initiated? The normal disposition for such a matter when the initiating party has failed to appear would simply be for the court to dismiss the pending action (motion for reduction in the support).

There obviously must be more involved here than what you've indicated in your question.
