Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Is there any thing I can do?

On November 19, 2007 I interviewed for a job. They asked me the usual question if I've ever been convicted of a crime and I gave them the usual no. They informed me they were going to do a background check and I informed them that was fine with me. December 18th I received an offer letter stating that the job started Jan.2nd. I promptly signed it and sent it back. Two days into working for them they said my background shows that I'm a criminal in another state and that I'm suspended. Since then I have proven to the company that the background check is false with little to no response from them. I don't even know if I still have a job. The company that ran the background check are telling me I have to wait 30 days for them to run it all over again. Sorry for being vague but is there anything legally I can do?

Other than wait, it would not appear so. (And to avoid such problems in the future, you should request that the company which ran the check provide a full explanation as to what caused this vexatious result along with what needs to be done to correct the information in whatever database(s)that may need to be corrected.)
