Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia
Grantors are named Life Tenant and Remainderman...What does this mean???????
My uncle pass away about 2 1/2yrs ago...he had some proberty in Va...and i also found another property in which i went to the county court house and i was given a copy of the deed of the property...the deed has my uncle whole name on it and states that he is the grantee... the grantors are stated as two differnt people...the frist name is indicated on the deed as LIFE TENANT....and the second person is indicate as a REMAINDERMAN...there are people who live at the said property..i am not sure if the people who live there know if my uncle pass a way...or that the benerficary of his will know anything about this property since we live in another state.....My question is....What process must i do to find out if this property is a part of my uncle estate?...How do a addres the people who lives on the property? as indicated on the deed one person is a life tenat and the other person is indicated as the reminderman..What does this mean?...The life tenant and remainder man, do they paid something to live in the house or do they stay there for free...My uncle being the grantee....since he has passed away...what is the best way the estate should handle this situation?

You should arrange to have a Virginia attorney who is knowledgeable regarding probate and property matters
review a copy of the deed which you've described. It's likely that your uncle's estate may have closed by now and that the executor or administrator of the estate may have more information on this matter(unless ,of course, that person is you).
