Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin
wife trying to leave state with children
My soon to be ex wife (first court date May 14th) continually threats to move out of state with the children. My children are 8, 14, and 17 and not only does she threaten me with this but she threatens my 8 year old daughter. This I can tell is really emotionally trying for my daughter and 2 sons not knowing if they are going to have to pack up and move when they wake up in the morning. She has also threatened to leave after she drops them off at school. I would just like to know what the laws are, if any, restricting her to leave the state with the children, we have joint custody and I have the children everyother weekend and on holidays and also any other chance that I get.

The other parent must provide you with notification of her intent to relocate by certified mail more than 60 days in advance. you then may object to the relocation by following specific procedures. At that point, the matter must be decided by a Court.
