Legal Question in Family Law in California

child custody and child support

I was just curious if I went for child support. Will my sons father be able to go fo child custody or have visitation rights. My sons father went to jail for abusing me and hitting my son as a baby. he was only guilty of hitting me. he went to court for hitting another girl but it was dissmissed. but now he is going to court for counts of raping a girl, abuse and forced two other counts

Re: child custody and child support

A parent who has abused the other parent is limited in his right to have custody and visitation. Further if he is convicted of a crime that requires registering as a sex offender, he would be limited to supervised visitation. Contact the local child support enforcement agency and they will file the necessary documents to get a support order.
