long term disability insurance

i have on term disability fo 2 yrs. They sent a voice mail saying they over pad me 23,000 and i have to pay it back. they admitted it was their mistake times during a phone conversation, which i recorded.

why should i have to pay back 23,000 for their mistake.

First time I've heard of a disability insurance company OVERPAYING a claim. Are you sure that you're not entitled to the money? These claims people are well trained to deny claims and not pay. If they want money back they should be putting it in writing to explain and not just leaving a message on your voice mail. Carefull about recording telephone calls without other parties permission. It can be a criminal offense.

You need to consult with an attorney familiar with disability insurance policies to first decide if the money was paid by mistake and then to consider your reliance upon their computation and your ability to repay. I would not recommend repayment based upon the voice mail message or phone call. You may also be entitled to Social Security Disability benefits if you qualify.

You should contact an attorney for a consult bringing a copy of the disability policy.
