Step mother abandoned home

My stepmother left my fathers home 2 years ago and said she didnt want anything to do with it and now that he is selling she of course wants half the profits. They had a verbal aggreemant that if she payed half of the second mortgage and taxes and insurance she would get half the profits but she never did. Now its being closed on in 2 weeks is their any thing he can do to stop her from getting half. He doesnt mind paying her something she just doesnt deserve half. PLEASE HELP

In Florida, and absent language to the contrary (in will or trust instrument) and assuming homestead property, she gets half of proceeds.
