My step daughter has not seen her daddy since she was in kindergarden he quit paying child support and quit coming to get her well now she is 13 years old and he has dedided to start paying again and wants her to start coming back over she doe not even remember him he lives a very trashy life and we do not. I do not want her to go back into that very bad place and also I want to change her last name to mine. She definetely does not want to go back. Also she is tired of being asked why her last name is different than her sister. I do not need the child support is their anyway I can get our family to be completely without him bothering us?

Re: Child custody

Sue him for backdue child support, termination of parental rights, or in the alternative, supervised visitation. You will then be able to negotiate with him. However, your best chances for involuntary termination of parental rights was when he showed no interest in visitation.

On the other hand, the daughter is entitled to the support, love and affection of both parents. It might be better in the long run to negotiate restricted or supervised visitation.
