what is the law on using tape recording for court

my daughter in law left my son and thier 3 children. she moved in with a man. she is secretly taping conversation tring to prove my son unfit and her a fit mother.she will ask i am a good mother ain't i. can these tapes be used in court? do they have to be the full conversation or can a part of the talk be used? when we found out what she was doing,we now before talking,ask if we are being tape. she says no. please reply my grandchildren 's safety in at risk.thank you.

First, she has the right to record conversations she is a party to. Second, her lawyer will try and use only the part they like. However, your lawyer should object and ask that the whole tape be played or supress her tape if it only contains parts. (ie. highlight tape for court)
