Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Are there any Cosigner Rights?

Cosigned a loan in Louisiana, 'John' hasn't paid on note for over a year (I've made $3500 payments)...as the cosigner..to protect my credit...he skipped the state of Louisiana, we found him in Missouri. We found a 'repo'man to pick up the truck, but my attorney in Louisiana says if we bring it back into the state, 'John' can come and get it, without owing a penny to us or the bank. We're still paying the loan to protect our credit. We could not have had it repo'd in Louisiana, but Missouri is different. In La. we can't get the title in our name without John's signature, which he won't give us...can I do anything in Missouri to put the title in my name?

Re: Are there any Cosigner Rights?

Have you considered filing suit against "John" for the debt you are paying for "his" truck? You may be able to obtain a judgment against "John" and then you may be able to seize and sell "his" truck (while paying off the bank's lien at the same time). Has your "attorney" suggested or thought of this course of action?
