Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Missouri

Graduation party at Ramada Inn

I have an original signed contract that shows an agreement from the hotel that I will have a grad. party, that they will have an announcement on their Marque congratulating the graduate and from what college. They now have new owners. They are telling me now that they will not put up anything personal. We have made changes on the amounts of food and have adjusted what kinds of drinks. Did my adjustments void this contract, because they are claiming that our agreement was only verbal about the marque. So I found the contract and faxed it to them today. What do you think my legal rights are?

Re: Graduation party at Ramada Inn

You had a contract with the old owners, it stands with respect to the new unless they choose to break it.

You have some choices: find a new place and get your money back or negotiate with the new owners.

If you have to find a new place because they're going to breach a significant part of the contract, then you should be able to hold them responsible for any additional costs of finding a new place. You DO, however, have an obligation to minimize your potential damages.
