Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

I don't know what to do. I bought a car on August 16th. It is a 2000 Nissan Maxima with 140,000 miles on it. I picked up the car 2 days later on the 18th. On the 19th I had trouble steering the car. It turns out that the power steering fluid was leaking. We took it to Aamco to run a diagnostic. It turned out that we need a new power steering hose and pump which costs an estimated 900.00. We told the dealer. I wanted him to pay for it. He said he would fix it. We took the car to him on Saturday August 22nd. We picked it up today Monday August 24th and it is still leaking fluid, it is still difficult to turn the wheel and the alignment is off. It is so dangerous to drive in my opinion. I don't know what to do, I don't trust the dealer to fix it. According to new york state lemon laws, our car is not eligible because of the mileage. This dealer should not get away with this. This car is not safe, we shouldn't have to pay for this. What do I do?

Assuming that the dealer sold you the car "as is", and an opportunity was given to you to have a mechanic look at the vehicle before purchase, I would fix the car and call it a day.

Mike.
