Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My daughter is 17. When she was 16 she left my home against my wishes and moved in with her boyfriend and his family to gain her "freedom". The boyfriends family is now trying to get me to pay support. Is this possible?

Theoretically it is, if they are awarded custody of your child through family court order, which is no easy feat
