Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

abandoned item

A former friend was temporarily storing an old console stereo in my garage since she did not have room for it. We recently had a ''falling out'' and are no longer friends. It has now been almost a year and the stereo is still there. I have sent her an e-mail to come and get it, but she has not responded. I have not called her because I want proof that I have corresponded with her and asked her to get her stereo. I also do not want to deliver the stereo to her because I am sure she will say I have damaged it. Can I send her a certified letter requesting that she pick up her stereo by a specific date? How long do I have to give her?

Re: abandoned item

Send a certified letter giving a timeframe (I suggest 30 days) indicating that you are unable to continue to store the item and it will be disposed of after the 30 day period unless she contacts you to arrange for pickup.
