Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

distribution of money

i had an aunt who passed away a few years ago and a lawyer who another aunt hired to distribute all the deceased aunts property, money is still holding onto everything. He sent letters out to all direct relatives stating how much money there was to distribute and who got what but still no checks have been distibuted yet. Is he keeping this too long and keeping the interest for his personal use/gain?

Re: distribution of money

Maybe. Hard to tell on those facts. Executors (and the lawyers who represent them) have a duty to administer the estate and pay the expenses in an orderly fashion. If they do not, they are personally liable for the result (e.g., if they distribute estate property and then are required to pay an expense they have to pay that expense themselves). Are you a beneficiary? If so, demand attorney give you a written expalnation as to the delay and when he/she expects to distribute. What you describe sounds like a long time, but it may not be unreasonable under the circumstances.
