Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My 17 yr. old daughter wants to live with me for school reasons. I want this to be legal so her mother doesn't flip out one day and cause problems and I also want my child support payments to be reduced. What is the easiest and quickest way to do this.

You'll need to file a Petition to Modify Timeshare (or, if you and the mother were divorce in Florida, a Supplemental Petition to Modify Timeshare) asking that you become the primary custodial parent. When this happens, you won't pay child support anymore, and the mother will have to pay child support to you. One caveat however, your daughter's desire to move, even though she is 17, isn't enough reason alone for custody to change. If the mother disagrees, your petition to change custody may be denied. You should discuss the matter with a local family law attorney.
