Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida
Family leave act
My husband had surgery on his shoulder. He has approximately 8 months of sick leave. He has been out of work since December 12. We just got notification from his employer that they have placed him on the Family Leave Act. Why would they do that and can they do that since he has 8 months of sick time remaining.

He can elect to use his paid time off and then he can still use 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA. If they won't give him his paid time off from sick time, you should consult an attorney locally or my office if you prefer.
