Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Default judgment

I was granted a final default judgment for half a million dollars against a company I had two years ago, which has been dissolved, and also individually to myself and my ex-partner. This was regarding a business lease contract for four years, which ended before the term, but I signed a personal guarantee.

The company did not have any assets, however at this time I have no house but planning to buy one personally. How does this affect me individually regarding buying a house in the future under my name, actual banking accounts, 401k, mutual funds, stocks, and Roth IRA.

Thanks.

Re: Default judgment

This judgment will prevent you from buying since I doubt anyone would give you a mortgage. The judgment is good for 10 years and may be extended.

it will be a lien on anything you own.
