I was terminated from my last job for doing something really dumb. If I list the company on my resume', can the comapny I am applying to call and find out if I was terminated and why?

They sure can and many will. If you don't list the company and that is discovered you probably won't get hired either, so be proactive in explaining your past mistakes.
