Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

if i told my employer i was hurt in october but they didnt put me on workmans comp till January and i am still on workmans today and they are just now finally doing something about it. I am worried that they may fire me when i get off workmans comp, what can i do?

Florida law says that an employer may not fire an employee because that employee filed a valid workers' compensation claim. There are other reasons that you could be fired that would not be unlawful, such as if you couldn't do the job even with reasonable accomodations. It is hard to prove, but if you are fired you should seek out a lawyer to discuss the situation. Keep a diary of what happens after you return to work.
