Legal Question in Construction Law in Georgia

Remodeling Contract

I signed a contract & gave a deposit via credit card on Friday...but decided that the price was way to high for the service and called the contractor to cancel or resend the contract. He feels I should not be able to cancel. Do I have the right to resend a contract where not services or materials have been purchased or rendered? I want to be fair but after further investigation and talking to several other contractors about the samer job they were over charging me thousands of dollars.

Re: Remodeling Contract

Generally, there is no right to rescind a contract within a certain period or for the reason stated in your post. Whether or not materials have been purchased is not relevant to your right to cancel the contract.

Re: Remodeling Contract

Contracts are generally valid the second they are signed, and hen the provisions of the contract control as far as cancellation, etc. "Fair" is not an issue - complying with contractual obligations is the issue.
