If someone is injured in a car accident, how long do they have to sue the negligent party after the incident?

You have two years. However, you should never, if possible, put off resolving the issue that long. Witnesses should be interviewed, their statements taken down, and other evidence needs to be examined ASAP. Evidence and witnesses and their memories have a funny way of disappearing with the passage of time.

In MOST cases, if the accident occurred in Georgia, you have two years to file in court. There are a few tiny exceptions to the rule. However, the sooner you present your claim for settlement or litigation, the better.
