Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Wrongful Termination

I was working for a company full-time for about 14 months. Last October, I had a medical condition which kept me out of work for 4 weeks. In February, I had another unrelated condition which kept me out for 3 days. I had medical releases for both occurences, but as a result, I was put on probation. In June, the probation was lifted because I had not missed any days of work. I still had 17 sick days left for the year. In the end of June I called in sick for 1 day. Two weeks later, I had to call in sick again, at which time I was terminated without any kind of warning. I was approved to receive unemployment when the state investigator determined I was wrongfully terminated. Can I seek any legal action against the company?

Re: Wrongful Termination

Hello and thank you for your

question. Under these

circumstances, I suggests that

you file a complaint with

the Department of Human Rights

for the State of Illinois as soon as possible. They will

investigate your case. How-

ever, I suggests that you

retain an attorney to prepare

your complaint so that it

is properly worded. Good

luck.
