how often may a creditor call in reference to when you are going to make your payment?

I would need more information to answer that question, but there are no "rules" on how many times a creditor may contact you. If it is someone that you owe directly, like your credit card company, then they can could possibly call you anytime they wanted and as many times as they wanted. If the creditor calling is a collection agency, then they must follow the rules under the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Act). This act restricts calling to certain times during the day, but it doesn't restrict how many times they can call. The loosely-worded definition is that they cannot "harass" you. So if you think you are being harassed, you may have an action against them for violating the act, but, keep in mind, that the act doesn't say how many times they can call you. I would suggest calling a competent attorney for advice if you have more questions.
