Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

I will start off by saying that I met my ex boyfriend in 2005.over the coarse ofour two and a half year relationship we traded class rings, and shared a cell phone plan. also I entered into a rent lease because he told my mother and I that he was going to move in with me and help with the expenses as I was a full time student and only had a part time job, which ment that I could not afford it by my self. he has never given me a single cent for the phone bill, nor did he return his cell phone to me which was an extra seventy five dollar fine.as for the apartment the most he contributed was always inviting his friends over and trashing the place which has left me in debt do to back rent and damages to the apartment.I was eighteen at the time.he has just recently startedtrying to get his ring back.I have offered too drive to meet him to trade so we get our rings at the same time, which he absolutelyrefuses to do.he insists that I mail his ring to him first, then he will send mine.as im sure you understand I do not trust him as all he has done is be dis honest in the past.he has been threatening to take me to court for a few months now, after all this time, to get his ring back.im curious as to if he has a case, or if I have a chance of getting help with the debt he has helped get me in?I deeply appreciate any advice you can give me.

sincerely

Your situation is similar to many others who post on here. That is why I posted discussions concerning cohabitation and the need for agreements at my blog www.todayslawalert.com. That being said, file in small claims. You have nothing to lose other than the filing fee which is about $80. Be sure to have all of your receipts, etc.
