Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

atty payment

I paid an atty in Louisiana to do a modification for reduction in child support plus credit for daycare being that my kids ages 7,9,&11 never have been. anyway, i paid this atty over 2 years ago to do this and guess what we still have not been to court yet. Is there anything i can do to retain my money back or just hire another atty to do this case. I guess this is what i get for trying to putting all my trust attys in Louisiana just because i am out of state do all clients get treate this way? By the way my kids live in Louisiana.

I fully agree with Mr. LeBlanc. Most attorneys in Louisiana (and in your home state) are quite professional.

The big problem with locating lawyers outside your home state is generally you learn about whoever bought advertising where you looked (eg. lawyers.com).

I would suggest looking at this website. Lawyers don't pay to be here, they volunteer. Read and review the quality of responses that different Louisiana lawyers give. Contact someone near where your children live who gives well reasoned answers. I can't guarantee your happiness but it at least gives you an idea of how the lawyer thinks.

No, I believe most La. attorneys are professional and handle their clients' business accordingly. You should write your complaint to the Disciplinary Board. I believe they have a link on the LSBA.org (La. State Bar Assoc.) website. I suggest you contact local counsel in the city where the children reside, or the court which has jurisdiction and issued the last order.
