Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Custodial Custody

My husband and I recently begin having marital problems. I currently take care of all of our son's needs. My husband is claims that he will fight me tooth and nail to get custodial custody of our son. He says that I cannot take care of our son because I ran up the credit card bill. I am however paying the bills off monthly. I give him a check monthly to pay the bills I have made. I feel I have a problem like most women when it comes to shopping. Has this caused me to be an unfit mother? Our son is always well dressed, groomed, feed and very much loved. If anything I have acquired so much debt by caring for him. I provide at least 80% of his support. (daycare, food, pampers and all other needs. I work 2 jobs to pay my bills. I am an elementary school teacher. I am with children all day. Am I unfit. Do I have to worry about losing custodial custody? That is Primary Custody right?

Re: Custodial Custody

You will probably end up with joint custody with one of you declared the domiciliary parent. No lawyer can predict how this will go based on one side of the story.

The court will try to make its decision based upon "the best interest of the child." It sounds like both parents have weaknesses and probably both have strengths. Consult an attorney soon.
