Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My son and I live at home with my mother and I am required to pay rent, but I'm currently not employed and his father gives me money to take care of him am I legally required to give her that money, since we live there and I'm suppose to be providing a home for him? And can she deny his father's visitation?

Also if I get a refund check from school with my name on it am I legally obligated to give it to my mother since without her financial info I wouldn't have received it at all?

Assuming you are an adult (18+), you don't have any right to live in your mother's home free. If she says you can live there but must cover some of the expenses, you have a choice of accepting those conditions or finding your own place to live. What you give her from the child support you are receiving is between the two of you. As for visitation, the father has a right to it but your mother has the right to bar anyone from her home. If that is her position, the father will have to conduct visitation in his residence or take your son out for dinner, etc. You're not obligated to turn over your refund check to your mother, but again since you are dependent on her for a place to live, you will have to reach an accord with her on these issues.
