Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
I have been divorced for about 3 years and my husband does not pay child support. He lives in a homeless shelter and has a few health issues and he has a gambling problem (the reason he's in the shelter). When we initially seperated (5 years ago) I filed for child and spousal support and was granted about 250 a week for me and our seven children. After about 2 years we tried to reconcile and I dropped all the support. We have since come to the conclusion that there is no possible way for us to reconcile. Is it possible to receive support from him again?

The child support obligation exists independently of the parents. It is the child's right to support by the parents. It will exist until the child is independent of the parents, usually some time after
the 18 birthday, depending whether the child attends school full time after finishing high school.
You can restart child support whenever you see fit.
