Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

residency

If a County has a residency

requirement and says all employees

are to be treated fairly and placed on

equal footing. How can they

Grandfather in some letting them

live where they choose and require

the rest to live in county or be

terminated. I am to be fired for living

out of county even though other

employees live five minutes away

from me in the same county. Is this

discrimination? I am not claiming an

eeoc complaint because i have been

told i do not qualify. The county is

Camden Co. NJ. I work for the

Camden CO. Dept. Of Corrections

and are Governed by the freeholder

board.

Re: residency

You may have a cause of action against your employer. I'd have to read the policy for out of county residency. To protect yourself, you should find an attorney ASAP to do a Notice of Tort Claim letter (Title 59) which will perserve your right to sue your employer.
