Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Property Dispute

My neighbor put up a fence between our properties approx. 4 years ago. Since then I have planted ornimental trees, bushes and a gazebo near the fence.

The neighbor informs me he has had the property line re-measured and his fence is 2 feet short of the line, meaning the forementioned plants and structure are technically on his property.

What recourse do I have? He wants to chop my trees down.

Re: Property Dispute

Have a lawyer check you local laws in reference to cutting trees. He may need a permit and you may be able to object when he requests such a permit.

I can be reached at 201-646-9600.
