At this point in time a NYS conviction can never be expunged and will always be on your criminal record. Therefore, you must answer that question accurately for as long as it is asked.

You have to report that fact for life, unless you obtain a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities. You get the application for this certificate at the court where you were convicted.
