Legal Question in Immigration Law in North Carolina
Can we just get married?
I met my fiance 4 years ago. He is from the UK. 2 years ago our daughter was born here. We are now ready to get married and start our lives together. My question is...can we just go get married and then can he get a green card? If we can just go and get married, what is the next step for us? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Re: Can we just get married?
The next step depends on your situation. Is he in the country or abroad? If he is in the US, what is his status?
Generally, if he is already in the US, you can get married. Then he would apply for adjustment of status to a Permanent Resident. There are a number of forms that would be filled out - these include the I-130, I-485, and I-765. You can look at the USCIS website for more info.
