Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Seperated: Am I libal for spouses debts if deceased?

I have been seperated for 14 yrs from my spouse. He is dying and what we want to know is will I be libal for his debts when deceased? We never went through a legal seperation...but have not lived in the same household since 1988. Should we divorce? What should we do? He wants to be sure I am not left with any debts of his.

If your spouse dies, his debts and expenses are to be paid out of any assets that his estate has at the time of death, before any distributions are made to his heirs. You should encourage him to get a will done, so his wishes as to his heirs are perfectly clear.
