Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Why am I getting a subpoena?

My boyfriend relinquished his previous house to his ex-wife during their divorce. She subsequently lost it, there was a sheriff's sale and there was money still owed to the bank. This all happened 2 years before I met him. The bank is now filing for debt collection against my boyfriend and they have subpeonaed me. Can they do that?

Re: Why am I getting a subpoena?

The bank wants to make sure that your boyfriend did not transfer assets to you to hide them from the bank. Therefore, the bank is within its rights to issue you a subpoena.
