Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

collection agency or attorney?

A credit card bill from about 5 years back. I received a phone call from a company called Liberty Credit Services. He said I neded to have the full amount pad ny a certain date and I said there was no way that I could but I could pay $100 to $150 per month to pay it off. He asked about refinance of the house and I said that could be a option so he set up a payment plan for me at $177 per month and I said I didn't know if i could do that much. I made the payment for a almost 2 months and called and said I couldn't afford that much a month and he said I had to pay it the arrangement was made on the agreement of refinacing the house and that they were a attorney's office and if I didn't pay it they would start legal action. No whereon any papers that I have say attorney's office and with this on my credit report I can't refinance the house. What options do I have now?

They always have an option to go after you via lawsuit on the debt. Although bankruptcy would ultimately get rid of them, you might want to investigate a debt counseling service to see if you can get some of your other payments down to make these payments easier.
