Ownership of property

I own the property around 3 sides of a small lot and the fourth is bordered by the right of way for an undeveloped road. I have maintained the lot for several years. I have been unable to contact the owner. The real estate tax on the lot has not been paid for several years. I talked to the county auditor and they said it would not go on auction because the value of the land is too small. Is there any way I can gain ownership of the land?

How long have you been maintaining the lot? If it has been for a long enough period, but might be able to claim the property as your own.
