I work for a health care company.I was off the time clock and done with work fro the day. I was shopping with my freidns when some of the client entered the store the shelter that i work at. My friends and i were joking around fliping eachother off and swearing at eachother haveina good time. I get to work the next and got told i was going to get wrote up for my conduct in the store. I was not on the time i was on my own time with my friends and was in no way there on the behalf of the shelter.. Can they wrtie me up for somthing i do on my own time.

Yes. It is well established that conduct on employer premises in under the purview of the employer whether an employee is on the clock or on his own time. In many cases conduct just outside the premises of employer have been found within the employer's ken. In some jurisdictions and situations an employer can act for conduct that occurs/occurred completely outside the employer's realm.
Think if you had been convicted of any crime of violence, fraud or moral turpitude. Your employer may even be negligent in not taking action.
In this case, as you have presented the facts, approach your employer and accept it's actions and acknowledge your poor judgement in the conduct of yourself and your freinds.
Then move on from this event.
