Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I have two children by the same man.We have lived together for ten years now but never married. I want to leave the relationship with my children.The birth certificates state the fathers last name.Do I have to file for custody or do I automatically have custody.

It would be best to get a custody order. Without one the parent who has the children at that moment has custody.

You don't say where in Pennsylvania you are this is important as it establishes where the case will be heard and where you are to any lawyer who might answer your question.
