Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Small claims

I was threatined with being takin to small claims court over a trip to maryland that i could not go on because i was sick. The suer is from Pennsylvinia and i am from NY. He wants the full amout of my cost of the trip $525. I agreed to go via email and never signed and papers or forms and i didnt give a deposit; only agree to trip via email...can he sue me with just the email and will i have to go to PA or Maryland to fight it? thx Paul

Generally, he needs to sue you in the town where you live...in other words, where a court has jurisdaiction over you.

For small claims, he needs to sue you in your home town or county. he cannot do it in another state.

However, your emails are a written document so he may have a case. Based on your email, of course I know very little about this case.
