Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Privilege to Work Tax

I was recently hired at a clothing store in the mall that is close to my school. They took the $52.00 Privilege to work tax out of my first paycheck. I only worked 2 days after that and was 'On-call' for the rest of the time. Only worked there for 3 weeks to have them tell me I was fired over the phone while seeing if I was needed for my 'on-call' shift. Can I get reimbursed for the $52.00 they took out considering I worked 4 days in 3 weeks and was fired for not including a previous employer on my application?

Re: Privilege to Work Tax

Most muncipalities have a provision for refund of the $52 if you do not earn a certain amount in the year.

You will likely have to contact the "township" for the procedure to get your refund and to see if you qualify.

Good luck to you.
