Social Securty

My husband appiled for SSD in Sept 2007 and got his award letter in Nov. same year .He will not get a check till April , my question is will he get back checks from Sept ?

He may get back checks from September 2006, depending on the date when he was found disabled. However, there is a five month waiting period and it may be that he was found disabled as of the date of the award. In that case there may not be any back checks.

The written Notice of Award that he received in November should explain the payment questions. If it does not, go to your local office. Without more information I can only guess.

So, here's my guess: If his onset of disability was September '07, there is a full five month waiting period: Oct '07 to Feb '08. His first monthly benefit is for March '08 and payment is made the following month - April '08.
