Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Hello lawyers. I have a question related to divorce in state of Texas.

My name is Tara, I have been living with my boyfriend (Rock) for 2 years and we have one year old boy together. Now, I find out that we have many different things in life so that I have decided my son and I will leave him alone. Is it possible to get child support from Rock even though I am not married with him?

Yes, you can get an order for Rock to pay child support regardless of anybody's marital status.

You have to file a suit to establish paternity. In connection with that suit, the Court will establish conservators, set up a visitation order, and order the monthly payment of child support.

The Attorney General will do this for free, but they're very slow. A private lawyer will want around $3,000.00 up front.
