Employer Payroll Accounting Error in Severance pay
I was laid off and received a severance pay via direct deposit. The employer also send me a live check for the same amount which I deposited. When I went to deposit the check, I had no idea that they had already deposited the sum via direct deposit. Since this is an accounting error on the employer's part, do I need to give the money back or am I entitled to this money? How long does an employer have to reclaim the amount?

Re: Employer Payroll Accounting Error in Severance pay
Verify that this was intentional payout and not an accounting error. If this was indeed an error then you should make arrangements to return the excess funds (if that is the case).
