Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in United Kingdom

Being sued in US for UK consumer debt

I am British but recently moved to the US. I had an unsecured personal loan with a high street bank before I left which I defaulted on. The bank are now suing me in a Texas county court. Can they do this? The loan was under the Consumer Credit Act. I thought action can only be taken in England. Thanks.

If you are here, then here is the only place they can sue you. These debts are defensible; I advise you to contact a consumer lawyer.
