Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Law suit

I am being sued for a credit card debt. The party suing me is a 3rd party debt purchasing company. The amount is wrong, actually the debt in question was disputed by me. What should I do when going to trail?

Re: Law suit

If you proceed to trial you should be prepared to offer the court credible proof by a preponderance of the evidence that either you don't owe the debt being claimed by the plaintiff

or that the amount being claimed is seriously in error in order to prevail in your defense.

If you are unable to provide such proof to the trier of fact (the judge) you will likely lose and have a judgment entered against you.
