Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Terminated due to my race.

I was terminated from a dealership because of my race. I was actually fired because I was speaking spanish to a co-worker. The manager took me to a separate office and was told ''what did I tell you about speaking that language in here'' he then told me to get my stuff that I was terminated. The manager gave us a memo stating that he didn't want any of us speaking spanish in there. I kept a copy of that memo. What can I do? I am also a full-time student with a son just trying to make ends meet so I can graduate.

Re: Terminated due to my race.

I think you might have a case here. You might come under the protections of the Federal Civil Rights Act, Section 1981, Title VII, and the New Jersey Law against discrimination.

I suggest you consult with an attorney who is versed in employment discrimination law.
