Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

PR Deed and Consent to settlement

I received 3 out of 5 properties I was willed. I signed the PR Deed that gave me the three and gave my family member the rest of the properties but I did not sign the settlement of the estate. At this point do I have any way to get the other two or are they gone? Do I just need to sign the consent or do by not signing do I still have rights?

Re: PR Deed and Consent to settlement

Has the judge signed the final decree, closing the estate? If so, then you have no further rights. If not, you can contest the way the estate was handled since you are a beneficiary. However, if you signed the deed conveying the property to the other family member, the judge most likely will not look favorably on your contesting the property distribution unless there were extenuating circumstances when you signed the deed. Good luck.
