Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

wrongful termination

I was terminated from an administrative position without a reason. I have never been written up. I have never been evaluated. 2 evals are required twice yearly and raise is based on that eval. 0-3% raise. I have always received a 4% raise and I just received that 2 weeks ago. Should the CEO give reason why I should be terminated.

Re: wrongful termination

The law does not require a reason for termination or that you be informed of a reason unless you have a contract to the contrary.

Re: wrongful termination

Unless there was a contract for your employment, you are an at-will employee. That means that you could quit when you want and can be fired/terminated when your employer wants. There is nothing to stop you from asking your boss for the reason for your termination.

Re: wrongful termination

IN Fla. you can be termianted for any reason at all even if it seems like it was unfair. Did they terminate you because of your race, not paying overtime, your gender, your workers compensation claim, those may give you a reason to complaint about the termination. Feeel free to call or e-mail me if youhave further questions.
