Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Sick Employee and Forged Document

My husband signed a blank document, the company did not go over what he signed they cancelled his life insurance when he cancelled his health insurance. My husband got sick on 1/27/00 and 1/28/00 several employees saw this, no one took him to the doctor or asked him if he was ok. On January 28 at 8:45PM he passed away from a heart attack in our home. I was told by the Plant Manager that if he would have known he was sick he would have taken him to the hospital. Plus the day before the funeral, I was told, he had no life insurance, I was also told that he should have read his handbook. Is this legal to not go over paperworkwith the employee and why blame his spouse at the wake for their neglegance of not asking him if he was okay. Please respond

Re: Sick Employee and Forged Document

Hello. I regret that you

have had to experience this

type of a situation and you

are not alone because there

are many victims of negligence

with regard to insurance. In

my opinion, your husband's insurance agent and the

company that he is associated

with may be liable for

his/her failure to review

the policy with your husband.

Furthermore, the agent may

have, through error, cancelled

your husband's life insurance.

You definitely should contact

the State of Illinois Department of Insurance and

make a complaint immediately.

You should also retain an

attorney to look into this

situation; you may have a

law suit!
